Kaw Valley Farm Tour

The Kaw Valley Farm Tour is a driving tour at your own pace to about 25 farms around the area. You can go to as many or few as you want. This year we only made it to 4 farms on Sunday but we had a really great time! The weather was PERFECT.

These cows are at Iwig Dairy Farm about 20 minutes away from Lawrence.

Knapp Family Farm was my favorite! It is a small family run pig farm that has been around since 1954. They still run it pretty much the same way that their parents did back in the 50s. They grow all of their own corn for pig feed. It was really clean and the pigs seemed very happy. The Merc buys their pork and it is definitely fresh!

I got to hold a baby pig! So cute!

Crum's Heirlooms was the only non-animal farm that we made it to. They have a large, beautiful garden on a really nice piece of land north of Lawrence.

Next stop was Vesecky Turkey Farm. The Merc gets all of our heritage turkeys from them for Thanksgiving.

The turkeys hang out in the sorghum field and got really excited when we drove up on the tractor. They are funny!
