Our trip felt like there were 3 parts: the Oregon leg, the Highway 1 California coast and Big Sur leg, and the San Francisco and Wine Country leg. This is the middle one. We spent a lot of time in the car, on the edge of mountains looking down at the ocean. We would round a corner believing that to be the most beautiful view, only to wind around another curve to see something even more stunning. Each view outdid the last. It really culminated for us in Big Sur. Wow. If you ever have the chance to go there I can't say enough about it. Oh, and please take me with you.
That is all Passionflower vine growing wild behind me. My favorite plant!
Pelicans!
We passed through San Fran on our way to Big Sur for one night and stayed with Gina in her super hip apartment. The next morning we went to the Alameda Flea Market. It was HUGE.
This is our precious little hotel where we stayed in Big Sur. We wish we had spent multiple nights there. But we will definitely go back. Go there. It's the best. Deetjen's Inn.
I mean, really?
Dinner at Napenthe. Spectacular. Oh, and the food was really good too. Not that it would have mattered with that view.
Carmel
The Lone Cypress at Pebble Beach
I think these squirrels had too much tourist food.
