We’re about to make it through another winter living in this amazing house. It’s been a white wonderland this year and seeing the snow from our big windows has been incredible. I shock myself every winter with how much I enjoy this season. It gives you an excuse to hole up and relax. Chris and I have definitely been hibernating this winter. We have had tons of cozy, warm fires, watched a million movies and eaten many a fine meal cooked by yours truly. And we are moments away from finishing the biggest project of the winter...my office! Chris is quite the handy man; which I didn’t fully realize until we became home owners. The room is repainted, the shelving is hung and the floors are sanded and refinished. (I’ll show you all about that later.) I brought up box after box from the basement of books and doodads that I hadn’t laid eyes on since we moved in a year and a half ago! It was really fun to revisit all of my old hobbies that I have been putting off doing until I had a creative space. It will be nice to get back to my herbal coursework, calligraphy, and other craft stuff. I just recently started planning my garden which is a sure fire way to create a longing for spring. I’ve drawn out a tentative plan and ordered my tomato and pepper starter plants from Seed Savers Exchange. There are a few things that I am going to do differently this year...like grow okra for pickling! Our garden was so bountiful last year. I hope that we have as much luck this coming summer. We’ll just have to wait and see!
What beautiful pictures! Congrats on a full year of home and self-improvement. I'm proud of you! Can't wait to read more blog posts. You're an inspiration.
ReplyDeleteNot gonna lie...this is the first time I've ever read a blog. Gonna tell the truth...what a joy! Only because it's yours. What color, what joy. How you are patient enough to channel your passions into such accessible means is truly a virtue. I look forward to your future postings-love you lowie.
