The fence is done! The fence is done!

Chris worked his booty off this Sunday on finishing the fence and it looks spectacular! I'm so excited that this part of the garden project is finished and we can move on. We have several projects going on at once but the fence was definitely the biggest one. There is still a chance of light frost, so I'm glad that I haven't planted any warm weather crops. It's so hard to resist because it's nice outside but if you plant too early, you can stunt the growth of or even kill your baby plants. Hopefully I don't have to wait too much longer!

Chris also built this cute bamboo fence around the herb garden. It's a little different than the one we've had in the past. He screwed the bamboo together inside of weaving it.

Making magic.

The garden fence is almost complete. It feels so fancy and sharp compared to the reed fence that we've had up the past couple of years. While we work I have to keep pausing to take a look around and soak it all up. This is my magical garden and yard! I'm so lucky.

A grackle proof bird feeder! I went to the farm and feed store down the street and the character of a man that owns the store dug through his pile of junk and found this cage that we put around a regular bird feeder. He was really nice and gave it to me for free! My little songbirds and I thank you!

Out with the old and in with the new.

The past couple of weeks have involved a little bit of change for us. This summer we purchased a gorgeous baby blue 1965 Chevy pickup truck to replace our deteriorating 1973 Dodge Dart. We decided to give the Dart to Chris's brother because we knew he would really enjoy it. So a couple of weekends ago we drove it down to Maize, Kansas where his family lives. It was sad to see it go. I really loved that car and had lots of wonderful memories taking road trips in it and cruising around town.

Those are tuberose bulbs that I pulled up for next year's planting.

The other big change I have mentioned before--this weekend Chris completed my new garden fence! It looks so great. My husband is so handy and determined. It's an inspiration to watch him work on a project.

The juniper bushes in the front yard received a lot of trimming and everything in the garden was pulled up.

Today I spontaneously decided to climb this tree! I felt like I was in 4th grade all over again. This tree is in our front yard and is an incredible presence.

And finally, the view from the living room. I often look out and see Chris hard at work in the yard. He makes me so proud!
